A note on starting fresh

This is the first note we’re publishing on the new gemtree.co. There’s no launch announcement to make, no roadmap to share — just a quiet entry, because the site is the work, and the rest follows.

Why we’re writing here

Most of what we do happens in person — across a counter, with a stone in hand, a loupe nearby, and a conversation that usually meanders before it settles. Writing isn’t the centre of the business and it never will be.

But there are recurring questions worth answering once, in public, rather than answering them piecemeal a hundred times. The 4Cs deserve more than a paragraph each. Certification — what it means, what it doesn’t — sits behind every stone we sell, and most buyers come to us not quite knowing the difference between a GIA report and an in-house grading slip. Those notes belong here.

What this isn’t

It isn’t SEO chum. It isn’t a "10 things to know before buying a diamond" listicle generator. If a post doesn’t teach you something we’d want to teach our daughters or our friends, we won’t publish it.

We’ll write when there’s something worth saying. In the meantime, the current inventory is where the stones live, and the contact page is the shortest path if you’d rather skip the reading and talk.
